A Federal Government Department in Canberra is seeking the services of an experienced IT Security Advisor. 

Contract period : ASAP to 31 Dec 2018 (with possible extension option of 6 months)

Responsibilities:

  •  comprehensive knowledge of the standards which govern the security of government ICT systems as detailed in the Australian Signals Directorate’s publication the Australian Government Information Security Manual (ISM)
  • technical proficiency in ICT security and the application of ICT security measures
  • security risk assessment and management
  • developing and delivering ICT security awareness training
  • ICT systems audits to detect security incidents and recover evidence for security investigations
  • producing high level and detailed documentation of new security requirements;
  • engaging effectively with business users, service providers and other key stakeholders;
  • assist, and where necessary, coach and mentor other team members; and
  • perform other ITSA related duties as necessary

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following: 

  • Ability to critically analyse and advise the department on security vulnerabilities.
  • Ability to review and advise whether information in electronic form is stored, processed and/or communicated in accordance with the law, Australian Government policies, and the information security requirements detailed in the agency’s security plan.
  • Ability to develop ICT security plans, policies and procedures for the department.
  • It is highly desirable that the ITSA hold suitable tertiary qualifications in ICT security and ICT management or have equivalent demonstrated on the job experience.
